High in the ancient highlands of Ethiopia, Kaldi noticed his goats dancing with unusual energy after nibbling bright red cherries from a wild tree. One goat, spirited and alert, refused to rest beneath the moonlit sky. Intrigued, Kaldi tasted the cherries himself—and felt his heart awaken.

He carried the discovery to nearby monks, who learned that these beans could keep them awake through long hours of prayer. From that moment, a sacred seed was born—the beginning of coffee.
